Vendredi, on se rend en taxi à l’hôtel où résident les intervenants, et on profite d'un petit-déjeuner.. gratuit (mes camarades ont bien observé leur environnement la veille héhé). A la table d'à côté Joel Parker et Kim H., sa femme, arrivent. 3-4 autres scientifiques sont atablés. J'ai le palpitant qui frétille. Je fais également la connaissance de Linda Lamon, une sympathique compositrice anglaise, pourvue elle aussi du pass press.
Mes amis étant très sociables et intéressants, Joel et Kim finissent par se joindre doucement et naturellement à la conversation. Linda enquête sur la boucle d'oreille que possède Joël et on apprend que leur fils étudie en Russie. Il nous parle de son collègue tatoué (au début je croyait qu'il parlait du type avec des étoiles rasées dans ses cheveux, Bobak Ferdowsi), Matt Taylor, qui a souffert de l'inutile polémique avec sa chemise de pin ups.
On fait une petite pause piscine (biiieeen plus class' que celle de mon hôtel) avant de monter dans le bus affrété par l’hôtel (on profite pépouz), pour rejoindre ceux qui nous mèneraient au concert. Je fais le premier trajet en écoutant Laura discuter avec un physicien invité par Hawking, et le second à coté d'une néophyte anglaise d'une petite cinquantaine d'année, intéressée par la Science pour ouvrir son esprit... et qui adore également voir des oiseaux voler -je lui parle du vol d'une centaine d'oiseaux qui m'avait ému au Puy Du Fou.
Cette fois on nous avait attribué une place chacun. Stephen Hawking était 5 rang au dessous. Au milieu de la salle, proche de la scène, se trouvait les intervenants qui étaient encore présent en ce dernier jour: Alexei Leonov, Richard Dawking, Neil deGrasse Tyson et son fils, Joël Parker et sa femme, roger penrose, Brian May (qui jouera à la fin avec Hans Zimmer) et sa femme, Chris Hadfield (qui rejouera Space Oddity accompagné du superbe piano de Rick Wakeman).
Sarah Brightman accompagnée de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Tenerife ouvre la soirée. Little angel et la reprise de breathe me m'ont particulièrement transporté. En arrière plan se dessinaient des étoiles lointaines,un satellite perdu, ce qui était assez attendu mais poétique, puis un LHC plus original.
Paul Franflin explique les effets spéciaux du trou noir d'Interstellar.
Garik Israelian, l'organisateur du festival s'est vu offert qu'une astéroïde porte son nom.
Kip Thorne vient expliquer ce qui serait projeté pendant la représentation d'Hans Zimmer: la représentation de trous noirs, de leur collision, des ondes gravitationnelles produits, d'une étoile a neutron détruite par leur force gravitationnelle, de champs quantiques dont la rupture donne lieu a la création d’étoiles ou quelque chose comme ça. C'était franchement superbe d'avoir une partie artistique ouverte a l’interprétation, aux connaissances, et une partie où nous était fourni des informations scientifiques, enrichissant encore plus l'incroyable expérience musicale.
C'est pour ça que je tends a vouloir inclure de réelles références dans mon travail quand il concerne l'Astronomie. Ça permet d’accéder à des informations passionnantes qui peuvent d'avantage nous toucher que l’expérience de l’œuvre seule.
DAY 5
Friday we take the taxi to the hotel where the speakers stay, and we can enjoy a free breakfast (my comrades carefully observed their environment the eve hehe)! At the next table, Joel Parker and Kim H., his wife, arrive. 3-4 others scientists are seated around. I'm so happy. I also met Linda Lamon, a friendly English composer, also having the press pass.
My friends are very sociable and interesting, so Joel and Kim gently and naturally end up joining the conversation. Linda investigate on the earring Joel has and learn, that their son is studying in Russia. He talks about his tattooed colleague (at first I thought he was talking about the guy with stars shaved into his hair, Bobak Ferdowsi), Matt Taylor, who suffered unnecessary controversy with his pin up shirt.
We make a small pool break (waaayy more fancy than my hotel's one) before boarding the bus chartered by the hotel (easy peasy-profit), to join those who would lead us to the concert. I make the first journey by listening to Laura talking to a physicist invited by Hawking, and the second next to an English neophyte, fifty-ish y.o., interested in Science to open her mind ... and who also love seeing flying birds - I tell her about the hundred of birds that had moved me at the Puy du Fou.
This time we were allocated a seat. Stephen Hawking was 5 rank below. In the middle of the room, near the scene, was the speakers that were still present in that day: Alexei Leonov, Richard Dawking, Neil deGrasse Tyson and his son, Joel Parker and his wife, Roger Penrose, Brian May (which will play along Hans Zimmer) and his wife, Chris Hadfield (who will replay Space Oddity accompanied by beautiful Rick Wakeman's piano).
Sarah Brightman accompanied by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra opens the evening. Little angel and the Breathe me cover where especially beautiful. In the background where projected distant stars, a lost satellite, which was quite expected but poetic, and a more original LHC.
Paul Franflin explains the special effects of the Interstellar's black hole.
Garik Israelian, the festival organizer, has been offered an asteroid named after him.
Kip Thorne comes to explain what would be projected during the performance of Hans Zimmer: the representation of black holes, their collision, the gravitational waves produced, a neutron star being destroyed by their gravitational force, quantum fields giving birth to stars or something like that. It was frankly wonderful to have an artistic part open to the interpretation, knowledge, and a part where we were provided scientific information, enriching even more the incredible musical experience.
That's why I tend to want to include real references in my work when it concerns Astronomy. It provides access to exciting informations that can make us feel more that the experience of one piece of work.
